Rail Operations

Locomotive Driver:

Locomotive Drivers are responsible for operating ARG's fleet of diesel electric locomotives including undertaking train inspections and shunting operations to ensure the safe and efficient working for freight trains.

Locomotive drivers work on a 24 hour roster throughout the year and are required to operate Driver Only Operations in certain locations.

 Operational Maintainer:

Operational Maintainers provide valuable operational support to assist in the efficient and safe running of ARG's operations. Duties include undertaking fault finding examinations of rollingstock (wagons) and assisting with train movements (shunting) in operational areas.

Operational Maintainers work on a 24 hour roster throughout the year and participate in a competency based training program resulting in recipients receiving Certificate III in Transport and Logistics which is a nationally recognised qualification.

Train Management:

Train Management Officers and Assistants coordinate and provide train operations support to assist customers and rail operations staff to achieve the best possible performance for the business. This type of work includes monitoring train movements, locomotive and wagon utilisation and ensuring ARG services are operating according to schedule.

ARG's Train Management Team is centrally located in the Perth metropolitan depot of Forrestfield and work on a 24 hour roster throughout the year.
