Maintenance and Engineering

Tradespeople:

ARG employs mechanical, electrical, boiler making/fabrication and other various tradespeople such as painters and machinists including apprentices. They maintain locomotives/wagon fleet and plant and equipment including conducting running repairs and maintenance to full overhaul servicing and new locomotive and rollingstock fit-outs.

Engineers: 

ARG engineers are involved in the analysis and assessment of new designs and implementation of modifications to existing designs to improve equipment performance, safety, maintenance and efficiency of locomotives, rollingstock and wagons.

ARG employs Engineers from a variety of disciplines including Mechanical and Electrical streams.

Rollingstock Maintainers:

Rollingstock Maintainers provide valuable support to assist in the efficient maintenance of ARG's locomotive/wagon fleet and plant and equipment. Duties include examination and inspection of rollingstock, brake testing and carrying out repairs, component change out, servicing and modification to rollingstock.

Rollingstock Maintainers generally work morning and afternoon shifts and participate in a competency based training program resulting in recipients receiving Certificate III in Transport and Logistics which is a nationally recognised qualification.
