Western Australia

In Western Australia, ARG operates over almost 5,000 kilometres of standard and narrow gauge track, carrying approximately 33 million tonnes of intrastate rail freight each year.

Annually, it provides some 40,000 train services, transports about 60,000 containers and moves approximately 1.5 million tonnes by road feeder services.

The main freight commodities include grain, alumina, bauxite, iron ore, nickel ore, mineral sands and woodchips.

Almost 95 percent of the freight carried by ARG in Western Australia is related to exports through the ports of Geraldton, Femantle, Kwinana, Bunbury, Albany and Esperance.

In Western Australia, ARG operates with 60 narrow gauge and 40 standard gauge locomotives. WA’s wagon fleet consists of approximately 2,000 wagons, including pressurised vessel wagons, bottom discharge hoppers, rotary tip wagons and state-of-the-art time efficient container carrying wagons. ARG also operates a fleet of specialised end discharge wagons.

The major stores and maintenance depot for locomotive and wagon overhaul is located at Forrestfield. Heavy repairs, wheel and bogie changes are also carried out at the Forrestfield depot.

The WA operations have and addition six depots located in regional areas, that carry out running repairs to rollingstock. Component change-our work, minor schedules services, refuelling and trip servicing are also carried out at these depots. There are 10 depots located throughout ARG’s WA network.

New South Wales

In New South Wales, ARG’s main operation is in bulk containers and flour products for the Manildra Group. Products are transported over in excess of 500km from regional locations such as Gunnedah and Narrandera to Nowra and Sydney for manufacture and export.

Marketing and Customer Service Team

ARG’s marketing and customer service team includes service planners, coordinators and marketing staff responsible for ensuring that all aspects of marketing, business development and contract management are customised to the client’s requirements.

Service planners and coordinators take customers’ orders and work across all functional lines in ARG to deploy the right resources to provide the best service solutions.
