ARG’s strength in regional Western Australia, is not limited to solely providing regional WA with the best freight haulage options, but also to support and be actively involved in regional communities through a number of key sponsorships.
Through these various regional sponsorships, ARG is provided with an invaluable opportunity to be actively involved in the local communities throughout Western Australia.
This year, ARG and the WA Country Football League have entered into an exciting new partnership for the 2006 football season.
Through the ARG Scholarship Program young players at a grass roots level are provided with financial assistance and an opportunity to embrace and develop their football skills. The ARG Scholarship program not only provides recognition and direction for a player’s career, but it also acknowledges the involvement that regional clubs play in the development of the individual.
The ARG Scholarship program comprises of three elements:
At a jumper presentation ceremony held at Subiaco Oval on Monday 17 July, four players from regional clubs around WA were selected into the WA State 16 team.
David Johnston (South Bunbury), Cale Morton (Lake Grace), Tayte Pears (Deanmill) and Jesse Laurie (Denmark) all travelled to Brisbane and competed as part of the WA State 16 team.
This year saw a record number of regional players selected into the WA State 18 team. Eleven players from regional clubs were selected into the WA State 18 team.
Through this area of the scholarship program, any regional player that is drafted into an AFL team, their regional club will receive a financial grant to help the club enhance their coaching and development skills for players in the future.
ARG has been a proud sponsor of Car 53 in the Variety Club Bash. Last year Car 53, or as they’re known on the bash “The Beach Boys”, participated in the nine day Backward Bash and made the journey from Victor Harbour in South Australia to Fremantle. Over the nine days they travelled through Port Augusta, Coffin Bay, Cummins, Streaky Bay, across the Nullabor, along the old Eyre Highway, Mundrabilla, Wharton’s Beach, Kojonup , Hopetoun before finalling arriving into Fremantle.
The 2006 Channel Nine Coles Variety Bash starts in Carnarvon on Friday 1st September and finishes on Saturday 9th September in Busselton.

ARG has been major supporters of the Double Barrel Edgehill Cup for the past couple of years, and over this time the competition has grown and attracted a number of local and interstate competitors.
This year, there were X competitors across the 6 grades. The competition was close with a number of shooters returning to the field to shoot-off for final placings in each grade.
Overall Winner - Carsten Bager. Carsten won the overall prize after shooting a 248/250, just edging out ARG’s own Phil House who shot a 247/250.
